Buying a TV for your home is not as easy as it seems. With a number of smart and innovative features, designs and TV brands available today, choosing a Smart TV has become really daunting. So, when you plan to buy a TV, you must consider what features you need in your television, size, design, budget, etc.

Today, most people want a television with HD picture quality at least and adding smart features like Bluetooth, etc. makes the TV watching experience even more pleasant. All the TV brands offer some unique and smart interface, and each interface is different. In this post, you will find out what factors you should consider when buying a TV for your home.

Size of the Screen

It is one of the most significant factors you need to consider while buying a TV. Choosing an ideal screen size for your home is important for optimal viewing experience. Big screen size may seem attractive when you enter a consumer electronics store, but you need to choose the right size for your room. According to the experts, one should watch television from the distance of at least five times the size of the screen. Watching TV from very close distance may affect your eyes and cause neck pain.

A TV with screen size 76.2cm to 101.6cm (30-inch to 40-inch) is good for a small room. However, if you are looking for a TV for your living room, then you should go for bigger screen size i.e. beyond 101.6cm.

Go for a flat screen television as it offers the best experience when watching TV with family. On the other hand a curved screen television offers good viewing experience only when you sit at its focal point.

Wireless Connectivity

You cannot call your television a smart TV unless it has wireless connectivity to connect it with the internet or your mobile phone. You need high-speed internet to enjoy most of the features of your smart TV and if you wish to play games and stream 4K content on your TV, then you need a high-speed Wi-Fi connection or wired Ethernet.

You can download your preferred apps on your smart TV, log in to them and play your favourite music, watch preferred movies and series. You can download apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime in your smart TV and buy a subscription to play your favorite content.

Display Technology

You should choose a television with the latest display technology like HDR, LED and OLED. High Dynamic Range (HDR) gives excellent information to the display and picture quality. LED and OLED TVs display more colors and finer grades of dark and light. OLED TVs are better than LED TVs in terms of picture quality but they are significantly expensive.

OLED TVs are thinner and light-weight as they don’t need backlighting like LED TVs. Further, OLEDs have better refresh rate, higher efficiency, thinner panel, better contrast, and greater life-span

This feature is really useful if you want to enjoy watching TV without disturbing the other members in the house. Using Bluetooth and two-way audio connection you can connect audio with the TV and simultaneously connect your mobile device with a sound system. Built-in sound technology has brought about a revolution in the audio sounds of TVs.

Other Fundamental Factors to Watch Out For

Basic factors to look for-

Refresh Rate

Refresh rate offers the speed at which television screen changes the pictures without blurring them. For an optimal TV viewing experience, you should never buy a Smart TV with less than 120Hz refresh rate.

Contrast Ratio

For a better clarity contrast ratio of 3000:1 is recommended as a contrast ratio lower than this will result in poor clarity.

Ports

When buying a television ensure it has at least ports i.e. USB, HDMI, audio/video and VGA ports. Check that USB port supports all the pen drives and hard disks to play videos.

HDMI port is the most important one of all the ports as it supports all types of digital videos like cameras, games, set-top boxes, etc. If you are buying a 4K Smart TV, then ensure that at least one port is HDMI 2.0 or HDCP 2.2 to support 4K videos.

Check 4K TV price in India at different online stores before buying one to get the best deals.

This is not an exhaustive list of the factors that you should consider while buying a TV. There are several reputed TV brands available in the market that offer feature-rich televisions at competitive prices. You just need to write down your requirements and visit a TV store or an online TV store to buy one.
