Whether you have been working as a professional builder for many years, or else are new to the job and are currently working under a contract with someone else, the importance of high-quality and functioning tools is an absolute necessity.

With that being said, continue reading to learn how to source the most important tools and pieces of equipment as a professional builder.

Screws & Screwdrivers

Even those people who are not even remotely either interested or adept at DIY will have some form of screwdriver in their kitchen drawer or closet under the stairs and as a builder, a wide array of different styles of screwdrivers and screws are an absolute essential.

Remember that, in general, screws are much more effective at holding two objects together in a permanent way than nails, and wonderfully, are actually significantly easier to remove if you make a mistake than nails too.

As a builder, you will need a wide variety of heads so that you always have the right one for the job. It’s worth having a manual screwdriver as well as an electric for those tight jobs.

Hot Air Tools

Out of all the different forms, styles, brands and specifications of hot air tools, it is essential to invest in a recognized brand from a reputable and renowned supplier, due to the nature of the work you will be engaged in.

Faulty hot air tools can cause a plethora of accidents and even permanent problems with the body if not handled correctly as well as if the proper PPE (personal protection equipment) is not worn. The most common accident with a hot air gun, for example, is a shot of compressed air directly to the eye and eyeball – in this situation tiny bits of debris from the material also shoot into the eye.

Different Types of Hammers & Associated Nails

If you ask any builder, either in the United States or indeed farther afield, one of the fundamental tools which they always keep in their toolbox, most are likely to say a hammer and corresponding nails.

It is advisable, then, to source different styles of hammers from separate suppliers who specialize in that particular type, the most important hammers being a claw hammer, a ball-peen hammer, a rubber mallet and a sledgehammer, the latter being useful when breaking down any form of structure.
