Somalia is the most corrupted country! Transparency International’s report

Transparency international conducted a survey recently and found that the war-torn countries were the most corrupted in the world. The survey was based on perceived levels of corruption in the public sector and it was conducted on 180 countries.
Somalia turned out to be the world’s most corrupted country followed by Afghanistan and Iraq and on the other hand New Zealand was found to be the least corrupted, followed by Denmark and Singapore.

It was explained that the uncorrupted countries were a result of “political stability, long established conflict of interest regulations and solid, functioning public institutions”.

The UK ranked 17th, down one place from last year. The US also fell one place to 19th. They were also criticized over shady banking practices.

“At a time when massive stimulus packages, fast-track disbursements of public funds and attempts to secure peace are being implemented around the world, it is essential to identify where corruption blocks good governance and accountability,” Transparency International said.
