searchingforbigfoot.com and the art of creating the buzz!

Searchingforbigfoot.com has generated quite a lot of curiosity and as the much publicized Press Conference nears, a lot of tension can be sensed. So here we are waiting to see the two men from Georgia speak, who claim to have found the body of Bigfoot.

We don’t know what the next hour is going to unfold but what we do know is that the two gentlemen viz. Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer will be credited for creating  one of the biggest “marketing buzz” ever. Take a look at Google trends for the past week and you will find words like bigfoot press conference, bigfoot, bigfoot found, bigfoot body, bigfoot georgia, bigfoot news figuring prominently.

They have been successful and the proof is that the other day there was so much traffic on the site that it crashed. Since then, they have been wiser. Additionally, they have taken extra care to ensure that the content and images are not copied by the other Websites. Entire Website is filled with copyright warnings. Of course, this is their business. A google adsense banner is visible at the end of their home page. They have been modest to not have put more Google ads.

Last but not the least, the site has a store from where you can Bigfoot movie, Lapel Pin, Belt buckle, T-Shirt , Mug and what have you! The website says ” Purchases of our products helps show the world you are a believer in Bigfoot and helps us Continue Searching”. Way to go guys but it leaves me a little confused. Wasn’t this supposed to be a science issue ?
