Police Officer Kimberly Munley is the hero of the moment!

Yesterday it was a total chaos in the Texas Fort Hood army base installation as gun man Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at fellow army men. 12 soldiers died in the rampage while 31 were injured. Hasan was an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress. The damage could have been much worse as Hasan’s shootout was a complete surprise and no one was ready for it.

Civilian police officer Kimberley Munley was the one to put an end to this horrifying ordeal. Munley was directing traffic until she heard shots being fired. Military spokesmen. Lt. Cone said Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of the gunfire. Munley, who had been trained in active-response tactics, rushed into the building and confronted the shooter as he was turning a corner, Cone said. “It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer,” Cone said. Munley shot the gunman four times despite being wounded herself.

Munley has been reported to be in stable condition, she was fit enough to call her fellow officer and enquire about the casualties in the rampage. Cone praised her as “one of our most impressive young police officers”. Cone said Munley’s aggressive response training taught her that “if you act aggressively to take out a shooter you will have fewer fatalities.”

The civilian police officer was hailed as a hero today.
