For the US, Dr Aafia is a “treasure trove” of information

Former US officials who served in investigating agencies have reportedly described Pakistani-American Dr Aafia Siddiqui as the “most significant capture” in the last five years, and said that she was a “treasure trove” of information.

Jailed “terror suspect” Dr Aafia, a neuroscientist by profession, is facing a trial in the US after being charged with trying to murder US officials in Afghanistan. She was arrested from Kabul and later extradited to New York for trial.

“She is the most significant capture in five years. She lived up to her reputation as an alleged terrorist Mata Hari,” the Daily Times quoted former CIA agent John Kiriakou as telling a foreign news agency.

The information found on Siddiqui has led the US government sources to describe her as a potential “treasure trove” of information on terrorist supporters, sympathizers or sleeper cells in the US and overseas, said the report.
