Diplomats from various countries meet Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Jan 6 (ANI):  A group of diplomats from various countries like Sri Lanka, Turkey, Arab States Mission met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here today and condemned the recent Mumbai terror attack.

The condemnation by Arab States Mission assumes significance because it has 22 members, most of whom are Muslim countries. It can be a set back for Pakistan.

Urging the countries to stand united and combat terrorism, Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi, Chief of Arab States Mission in India, said, “We are following these developments and we think that the Arab countries and the whole of South Asia and the world over should stand in firm manner to combat terrorism including the recent attacks which took place in Mumbai and which are totally condemned.”

India has blamed Pakistani militants for Mumbai attack, which killed 179 people and re-ignited tension between the neighbours who have fought three wars since 1947, but this is the first time it has handed over evidence to Islamabad.

The evidence handed over to Pakistan includes a confession, from the man India says is the lone surviving gunman, details of communications links with “elements in Pakistan”, and data retrieved from GPS and satellite phones. (ANI)
