India-Pakistan tension will resolve soon: PCB

Karachi, Jan 20(IANS) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) believes the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan will be resolved soon and it is only a matter of time the two countries will resume cricketing ties.

Saleem Altaf, the PCB chief operating officer, said the Pakistan and Indian cricket boards will sit down to find a slot for the series that was supposed to take place in January-Febuary this year.

India refused to play the series in Pakistan because of strained relations between the two countries over last November’s terror attacks in Mumbai.

Pakistan said it suffered losses of around $30 million because of the scrapped series.

Pakistan and India are to co-host the 2011 World Cup with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and there are fears that tense Indo-Pak relations might force the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift the World Cup to Australia and New Zealand.

However, Altaf played down such fears. “The World Cup is still far away and I’m sure things will improve and we will deliver a successful World Cup.”
