Elena Delle Donne all set to debut as Blue Hen!

Elena Delle Donne, of Wilmington’s Ursuline Academy was once a stunning player when it came to shooting the hoops. Everyone had high expectations on her and she delivered as well. Winter nights saw her scoring baskets after baskets and winning state titles. She was the top recruit in the nation several years ago. She chose UConn over Tennessee.
She dropped out just after one day with Uconn, and gave up the sport of her acclaim and enrolled at the University of Delaware athletics near her home to play volleyball. Donne wanted to be near an older sister with whom she is very close and who has significant disabilities.
But Donne did not lose her focus or passion. Tonight, the world will see her debut as Blue Hen of St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa.
“People should be patient,” cautioned Delaware coach Tina Martin “because she’s still a freshman – actually two freshmen – because we have her playing both the post [on defense] and guard positions.”
This is one player who seemingly has her head on straight and is definitely going to make it big.
