Triskaidekaphobia is a psychological disease ; Fear for 13
- 0 Comments
Triskaidekaphobia is a psychological disease with unusual symptoms. People who are suffering from that disease have a morbid fear for the number 13 or the date Friday 13. This disease generally comes from the belief in different superstitions. This disease can cause anxiety, distress and mental breakdown to an individual. Dr Bird Hayslip in the department of psychology in the University of North Texas in Denton said anxious and socially-dependent people generally believe in superstitions and it might led to this kind mental disease if not given medical attention in time.
Dr Rex Northen in Phobia clinic in New York City says people should relax and wipe out the thoughts of worries in this day. Generally there is nothing bad associated with Friday, 13, but groups of superstitious people always spread rumors that something bad is going on somewhere. There are few incidents in the history which are mainly responsible for this superstition about the number 13. In 1307, on 13 October, a secret death warrant was carried out against Templar by Pope of Roman Catholic Church. Friday is also associated with evil in western culture. Bible says the apple was given to Adam by eve on a Friday. But there is also some good incident associated with number 13, like United States started out with 13 colonies.
