Oprah Winfrey Show reveals Charla Nash’s Story

Charla Nash was attacked by her friend’s chimpanzee Travis in February this year. As a result, she lost most of her face and her jaw bone was broken. Charla appeared on Oprah Winfrey show to tell the story of her life after that tragic incident. She discussed about her traumatic life in the hospital.

Charla’s face was disfigured and damaged so badly that it is difficult to recognize her. She lost her eyes also due to the attack. The chimpanzee ripped off her face, lips and eyelids. Charla can not breathe through her nose and uses straw to eat. Winfrey removed Charla’s hat to reveal her face on the show.

She has a big scar at the bottom of her face and a piece of skin at the place of nose. The owner of that chimpanzee was Charla’s friend, Sandra Herold. The incident took place at Herold’s house in Stamford. Charla was hospitalized in Cleveland clinic in Ohio after police shot and killed that chimpanzee named Travis. Travis was 14 year old and weighed 200 pound. When Travis was younger, he took place in different TV commercials and attended few promotional campaigns too. Charla is a resident of Connecticut and her family logged a legal case claming $50 million against Herold for negligence to control a violent wild animal.
