Rachel Weisz Tries Her Hand at Theatre
One of the most attractive women to have been seen in and off screen in Hollywood is ofcourse Rachel Weisz. The stunning woman who became an instant hit after ‘The Mummy’ and The Constant Gardener (for which she won an Oscar) has now chosen to come back on stage after her last performance on stage in London. Rachel had performed in Neil LaBute’s The Shape of things.
Now after a gap of eight years, she is coming back as a slightly ageing Hollywood actress who is on the verge of retiring and suddenly loses everything that name and fame had given her. The character named Blanche DuBois in the play A Streetcar Named Desire.
This is a very challenging role as it has been played by Vivien Leigh, who has made it an ever living legendary character ever since. Then there was Glenn Close who played the character seven years ago in London.
So when did Rachel decide to go for the theatre stint? It was during her college days that she along with her two friends decided to set up a Theatre group Talking Tongues, which won The Guardian Student Drama Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1987.
However, her big break came as she was cast by Sean Mathias, in Noel Coward’s Design for Living as Gilda. Rachael has since gone from one level to another to prove her prowess as an established actress.

Rachel Weisz is such a fine actress. I bet she will do equally good in theaters as she has done in hollywood movies.
