DiCaprio cuts back on ‘green talks’ not to sound ‘patronising’

American actor Leonardo DiCaprio has decided to talk less about environmental issues because he does not want to sound “patronising”.

The 34-year-old star, who has been talking and campaigning to raise awareness of planet-saving schemes, admits that his non-stop “green” talks may irritate people.

“Yes, I have solar panels and all that sort of stuff. However, the more I learn about the subject matter, I also realise that people find it patronising,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“They feel like they’re being told what to do when somebody like me talks about the fact I have solar panels,” he added.

DiCaprio further insisted that he knew that most people wanted to do their best to help the environment, but were unable to do so as they could not afford it.

“Not everybody can get solar panels and not everyone can drive a hybrid car. It’s not about blame or telling people how to live, it’s just about saying, ‘Let’s all be aware of these issues’,” he added. (ANI)
