Aishwarya Rai was the original choice in Manisha blockbusters !

Readers won’t believe it but at one point of time, Manisha Koirala had been a rival of our fab Bachchan bahu.

Then a delicate porcelain beauty with the freshness of the mountains in her demeanor, Manisha had been feted by the magazines and media alike as the next big thing of B-Town. These two gorgeous women used to try their best to outdo each other in order to become numero uno. But recently Aishwarya has confirmed repots that she had been approached by movie moghul Mani Ratnam to play the lead in his gritty take on the 1993 Mumbai blasts,Bombay. “Mani sir had indeed requested Rajeev Menon to ask me for dates,” trilled the luscious lovely. The reason for not accepting such a plum casting miracle? She had been busy preparing for the 1994 Miss India pageant.

What is extremely discombobulating is the fact that ace director Shankar had also wanted the Tulu lass to star opposite Kamal Hassan in the Tamil movie India. But as we all know the character of “Aishwarya” in the movie had been essayed by Manisha. And hold on to your seats,Manisha’s finest performance till date, the portrayal of a traumatized girl of deaf and mute parents would never have been had Ash given Sanjay Leela Bhansali dates. Yes, she indeed had been the original choice for Khamoshi as well! Isn’t that too much of a coincidence?

If Manisha is reading this article, she must be feeling pretty low and out. We wonder if Manisha had ever been approached for any of Ash’s roles??  Maybe for The Mistress of Spices?
