This year’s most craved for toy has been coping with some negative publicity lately. The Zhu Zhu pets which had become a must buy for kids this year has been contended unsafe buy a consumer group, Good Guide.
The specially targeted toy is called Mr. Squiggles. Good Guide claims the hair and nose of the toy hamsters can cause health problems. They also indicated the possibility that some toys contained phthalates, chemicals that were subject to tougher standards in the Consumer Protection Safety Improvement Act passed last year.
Zhu Zhu people disagree with Good Guide and claim that their cute little toys are innocent and harmless. “I have been in the toy industry for more than 35 years, and being a father of children myself, I would never allow any substandard or unsafe product to hit the shelves,” Russ Hornsby, Cepia’s CEO, said in the statement.
The company is contacting GoodGuide to share its testing data and determine how the report was founded.
In the mean time, set Mr. Squiggles aside for a while please.
